Design your vase

A shape for the flowers. A sculpture for the days between. Change the form, surface and colour, then send us your design.

What it is for

For fresh flowers, use a separate watertight container until your printed vase has passed a water test. Snap feet are prototypes awaiting fit and load testing.

The outside is built in layers rather than picked from a list of pots. A body — its plan and its silhouette — carries a stack of surface treatments. The treatments stack, which is how the references are really built — bubbles over flutes, bands over a taper, a wave along a rib — so it is a list you add to rather than one choice off a menu.

Hand-made irregularity

Every treatment above can be laid down perfectly even, or jogged about so the flutes are not quite the same width and not quite the same depth. The jogging is drawn from the seed, so the same seed is the same pot, every time it is opened and every time it is printed.

Adds material around the inside floor of the pot and liner, without changing the outside. A rounded corner is easier to clean; print settings still determine whether it holds water.
